Okay, so I admit it, I have a slight problem with lipsticks. I have far too many - even when you count the ones that have been lost in friends cars or borrowed on a night out - and I don't wear them all. I keep going back to a select few that I really love which can usually be found lurking around in the bottom of my handbag.
I tend to go through phases of the kinds of shades that I like to wear during the day and to be very honest with you, there can be days where I just won't wear any kind of lip product at all. If I know I am going to eat or have coffee then more often than not I am found with completely naked lips - no lip balm or anything.
So, what am I currently lugging around in my bag on a day to day basis? Well as you can see from the picture at the top my current theme of choice is a variety of red shades with a nude and a purple thrown in for good measure. It's also quite easy to see that I am rather fond of matte lip products. I'm not sure why but there's something about them that I like more than high shine, glossy shades.
Lets delve a little deeper into these products then shall we and I can give you an overview of why I like each one. I think it's quite obvious to see that when it comes to my lipsticks I don't tend to go outside the world of what can be bought in my local Boots or Superdrug - something I need to change I think.
Lets start with the Rimmel lipsticks. I always tend to go back to Rimmel for some reason, I don't really know why but I think it's just that I like the formula. I like their matte formula's quite a bit as well as they don't dry out my lips, which is something that can really happen with the matte shades in certain brands. The two that are currently in my handbag picks are the Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss in 30 and Rimmel 084 - Amethyst Shimmer.
The first shade is a deep red colour, almost to the point of being a wine shade. It is perfect for Autumn but it's the kind of shade that I like to throw on all year round to make me feel put together. As with most of the Rimmel shades it applies very well and has great staying power, the wear isn't always even but that's usually down to what I have been eating more than anything else. I really like this shade of lipstick it would be perfect to compliment a lovely Christmas look as well.
With regards to the second shade this is the kind of lipstick that I have been loving to wear recently. A while back I took a notion into my head that I wanted to start wearing shades with a purple tinge to them. I spotted this and I have to say it has become a firm favourite in my collection. There is a slight shimmer to it the product when in the tube but it isn't chunky or anything that is overly noticeable to anybody else. I think it is a mesmerising shade which I am always asked about when I wear it.

The next lipstick quickly became one of my favourites from the first time I put it on my lips. The Color Riche by L'Oreal in Eva's Pure Red is one of my all-time favourite red lipsticks now - lets be honest I really picked it up because Eva Longoria is a strong woman that I admire and if she can pull it off then why can't I? I particularly like the fact that there is a berry tone given off this lipstick, rather than it being a very bright orange-toned red. This seems to be the product that I reach for it when I just want something easy to wear but that is endlessly classic. It goes onto the lips so beautifully and although this is a matte lipstick it doesn't feel that way at all. It never dries my lips and I cannot get over how beautiful the colour is.
The Collection Matt Lip Butter in Crimson Velvet is a very simple product. The packaging is sleek and easy to carry around in my handbag. With regards to the colour it is a rather bright red and very unlike the rest of the colours in my small collection here. My favourite thing about this product is that it's matt - there is a theme here - and it doesn't dry out my lips. It also has the staying power of something that should be drastically more expensive.
Finally, onto the only nude lipstick in this small collection. It's very odd that I only have one but this has become my favourite nude lipstick that I own. I never tend to use anything else. Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick 930 Nude Embrace is really one of the creamiest mattes I think I have ever used on my lips. It never really dries down like the others but there is no shine of it. I love the colour as well. It's a nude but it's not a pinky nude which I find great as I tend to prefer the brown nude shades. I really cannot fault this lipstick.
Well this has been a long post and I thank-you if you are still here at the end of it. You have now had a little insight into the lipsticks that I like to carry around on a daily basis. Have you used any of them?
